You do your regular dry embossing. Then ink up the canvas background stamp and put your embossed stock on it only witht the indented side facing the ink pad. Then, since I have trouble with these large pads, I put another piece of cardstock over that and roll my brayer over this until I "think" the whole area of my card has been covered. The indented portion will not get inked. Hope this makes sense.
