Why am I calling this update ... and the Beast? Well yesterday was my first time participating in challenges here. I thought I would start with two challenges. This one is the inspiration challenge Birch Bark Birds artwork.
The artwork is clean and contemporary - this is not a style the I typically use in my cards - I like sponging, distressing and using hardware. But challenges are good for me and will help me spread my creative wings *right* and I like blue and brown togetherÂ… SoÂ….
This is what I created - The Beast - I don‘t care for this card… I‘ll class it as Yucky...

Oh I have to disagree with you! This is wonderful. I love the feathers on your birds and the accents of jewels is a great touch. This is a wonderful interpretation of the inspiration piece! Great job!

I'm so glad you joined the inspiration challenge ... and I don't think this one is yukcy at all ... I love the texture and your geometric patterns ... your circle card is pretty too ... the key is to enjoy the inspiration journey wherever it takes you ... I really like your inspired creation.

Ok I'm gonna agree with you somewhat and hopefully offer a constructive opinion. For me it's not horrible but I think it's too much on one plate. For me it's the large piece of striped paper I think that throws it off. I think I would like to see the same exact card but instead of that large striped piece and mat maybe do a small light and dark mat behind each of the geometric shapes. I think those are really cool and need to stand out more. I think it would help the cute little birdies pop more too. I wouldn't classit as yucky but more like a work in process maybe.

I think this card really matched the inspiration well! It picked up on the patterns in the original and the shapes. Very well done! I find it to be perfectly breathtaking!
