When I saw this set in the catalog I knew I had to have it. You see, in the backyard at our farm there's a flowerbed hemmed with small rocks my grandmother dug from her garden plot 40 years ago this spring. Inside those rocks she planted peony bulbs and though she left this earth 19 years this June her peonies still come up every spring. Mom and I always cut them, wrap them in wet newspaper, then head home to get them into vases so we can enjoy every possible moment of their beauty. The aroma of them still brings tears to my eyes as I recall the lovely lady who planted the first peony bulbs decades ago.
The scoring pattern I used is similar to the tile pattern in my friend's kitchen. She has a window pane looking pattern in the center that is then surrounded by small mosaics on the corners and long thin stone pieces around the sides. I love her tile and I love this technique!

What a lovely memory and tribute in honor of your Grandmother. I'm sure she is with you every time you visit her garden.

This is FABULOUS! I too had to have the Peony set as I dug up some of my grandfathers after he passed away at the age of 95. Whenever those peonies bloom I think of him
this is going into my favorites!
