Well, here is my card for today's technique lover's challenge, finally! The challenge was to make a pocket heart. This was fun and perfect for Valentine's Day! I don't know what was going on, but it took me forever to get this one done! There was A LOT of cutting involved, so very labor intensive.
I just got my new sets from Gina K late last week, so I had to pull some out for today. I used the Just So Hippy set, designed by Melanie Muenchinger for Gina K. Designs AND the hearts from the Dr. Feelgood set, designed by Carolyn King for Gina K. Designs. I also used Flourished Elements from Flourishes.
I wanted to incorporate some pink in my card, but was not feeling like a pink overload today. So, I used rose red and close to cocoa for the main panel mats and then used so saffron for the main bg panel. I ran the saffron piece through my cuttlebug and then rubbed the saffron classic pad over the raised swirls. I cut the heart out of close to cocoa cs and then stamped some of the images from Flourished Elements in versamark and embossed with Maize ep by SU! (they don't have it anymore). I used my scalloped circle punch to make the scalloped saffron border along the pocket folds. I then used my crop-a-dile to insert the fire circle rhinestone brads along the top fold. All of the heart are from Dr. Feelgood. The solid ones are stamped in rose red ink on rose red cs. The outlined ones are stamped in rose red ink on regal rose cs. They are individually cut out and glued on the heart. I used my paper piercer and piercing guide to do the piercing along the top curves of the heart. I stamped the giraffe from Just So Hippy on whisper white cs with black stazon. I colored it in using the Gamsol Magic technique. I cut it out and adhered it to the card front with mini pop dots. I used the word window punch (used it twice to make the window longer) to make the window around the sentiment. I stamped the sentiment (from Just So Hippy) on the close to cocoa mat layer in versamark and embossed it with the Maize ep. This was a fun card to make and I am really happy with how it came out, but it was VERY labor intensive!
Thanks for looking and I hope you like it!
