This year's Hallowe'en issue of Paper Crafts had cute jack-o-lanterns made using jars, so I tried it out this year in lieu of real pumpkins and loved how they turned out! I believe the jars I used were one pint and one quart sized.
I cut the eyes, mouth, and nose from black cardstock, taped them onto the jars using double-sided tape, then wrapped tissue paper around and fastened it with a ribbon. I put flickering LED tealights inside to eliminate fire hazard, and set the jack-o-lanterns in our living room window. They were quick, easy, fun, and cute! The hardest part was finding a package of orange tissue paper; I could only find multi-colour packs until I went to Hobby Lobby's gift section. I told my sister about these, and she thought they sounded like a great idea for her young children to each make their own to decorate.
Thanks for looking!
