Bar Mitzvah

Photo Details
Poster: Miss Minx

My oldest DD was invited to share in her friend's celebration as a Bar Mitzvah. We're not Jewish, so I wasn't sure if there were color do's and don'ts so I went with Hanukkah colors---I hope it's okay?

The card itself is Fabriano paper. The image is embossed in silver on the card, and then in silver again on brilliant blus, and then in sapphire on bashful blue. I cut out the different elements and popped them up for layering. The sentiment is embossed in sapphire EP.

There's a funny story behind the 'why's' of this particular image---during the service at the Temple this morning, a bird managed to get into the building and was flying around during the boys' readings. When the Rabbi stood up to bless the boys, he mentioned how God had allowed the bird in the sanctuary as a symbol of their faith and dedication to the Scriptures. Then, much to the Rabbi's dismay, the bird promptly flew into one of the windows and hit the floor behind the platform with a thud. The kids tried so hard not to laugh, but 30 minutes later when the finally conscious bird staggered out into the middle aisle it was too much even for the adults---the entire congregation broke out in applause!!

So I thought the dove in the middle of the Star would remind my DD's friend of his own 'dove.' ;)

TFL!

I can say that any thoughtful card is what is appreciated, doesn't matter the colors, or what the sentiment is... although usualy is good to get it right... but this card is PERFECT.

When in doubt blue/silver is always a good choice and the dove and star of david can be used as a default for any card.

If your in doubt, you can check out my Jewish stamper's thread .. it's getting a lot of suggestions every few months and might help you in the future if you move beyond bar mitzvah cards ..

Wonderful card - and wonderful story... thanks so much for sharing!

Very classy card. I think that color scheme would be appropriate for most any occasion (well, except maybe for a baby girl... or Christmas...).

That's quite a story about the bird! :)

I don't know how I missed this card, it looks great! Love the bird story. If I get a Bar or Bat Mitzvah invitation with a definite color scheme I tend to match my card to it (recently did an all pink card and a blue and green one). But when in doubt - blue, white, gold, & silver are always safe bets!

I love it! Thank you for sharing ~ I need to get the Wonderful Words set now! It's what's been missing from my Bar/Bat Mitzvah cards. You really did great!
