Outlawed Christmas Fun!

Have you seen the new stamps designs Inky Antics has added to their collection? They are so wonderful and this card uses one of them. It is from the Ronnie Walter line. Now, most people would take this little piece of candy the snowman is using for a sled, and color it red and white...but, I wanted to try something with more of a vintage look...and, I wanted to use my copic markers for coloring. My problem: I couldn't figure out how to blend my current stash of copic markers to get a vintage red shade of color...so, I decided to go with greens and browns! Sure...it is a little 'out of the box', but I loved how this turned out, and have since made 3 more! I did add some lines of crystal effects around the snow area...so that may not be quite vintage...I'm really not a 'vintage' pro...but, I like the way it gives the 'snow hill' a look of 'slickness'. I used twill tape ribbon from Martha Stewart's collection, and once secured to the card, I frayed it and then colored the frayed edges with my copic markers to resemble the scarf the snowman is wearing. I saw that I had a snowflake eyelet, but it was white...so, I colored it with my copic markers too! This gave it more of a rustic look. And finally, and one of the main reasons I did this card, in this fashion....Julia Stainton posted a challenge on her blog, 'Belle Papier'...and in the challenge she suggested we use a themed line of designer papers for a purpose other than it's original design...for instance, use a christmas theme design for a baby theme card. So this is my attempt...I used SU's 'OUTLAW' paper collection for a christmas card. Not sure if this is exactly what she wanted, but it worked for me! You can find her challenge here: http://bellepapier.blogs.splitcoasts...lenge-for-you/
Thanks Julia for the 'inspiration'.
