I have unmounted almost all of my woodmounted stamps and put them on EZ Mount(1/8" foam) or Thin EZ Mount (1/16" foam). After trying out the CD case storage method and the magnetic photo album method, I've found that filing my stamps in a box works very well for me. I found the CD cases worked great when I had fewer stamps mostly purchased as sets, but once I got a grab bag of a couple hundred stamps, it got overwhelming and I didn't think I would know where to find some of my new stamps. The photo album method lasted about three minutes before I decided that I hated it and it wouldn't work for me. The pages were floppy, awkward for me to turn, and I could only put ~10 loaded sheets of stamps in the album before it started getting full.
The stamps are stored on magnetic album sheets cut in half -- lucky for me that is the perfect size for this box I had around the house already. I have the stamps organised by general category (Decorative Elements, Animals, Insects, Celestial, Tropical, etc.) I love this method as it makes all of my stamps very easily accessible, and works very well with how my brain likes to process things. I was fiddling with some new Decorative Elements stamps this morning, and because all of my stamps and sets with these images are stored in one place, I was inspired to combine parts of different sets in one card design.
