Another technique I learned with Ranger Products call Shabby Shiek Resist.
1. Stamp the image in a clear embossing ink (Perfect Medium and Distress Embossing ink by Ranger are my favs) on black card stock or chipboard and heat emboss with Super Fine Detail clear embossing powder.
2. Sponge Ranger Acrylic Paint Dabbers over the entire image and allow to dry for a few minutes. Wipe paint of embossed area of image with a BARELY damp paper towel.
COOL huh?!
