Yes, I'm late! Well, I did finish the design in April. It's been kind of strange dividing my time between Spring yardwork and making Christmas cards. It's really great that this Christmas Card Challenge is so flexible about how and when we get our cards done.
The faux tile technique is one of my favorites. This version is a little different from the traditional one. I first stenciled the pinecones brass stencil image with SU! classic inks (Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip & Handsome Hunter) on Confetti Cream cardstock using sponge daubers. I removed the stencil and sponged on Creamy Caramel and Always Artichoke. I used masks and reverse masks to keep the sponging more confined.
The grid brass stencil was placed over the image, the edges taped down with extra low tack painters tape, and then dry embossed. Leaving the stencil and tape in place, I smooshed the Versamark pad all over the image. Then the stencil was removed and I heat embossed with clear EP. To create the grout, I colored between and around the "tiles" with the Chocolate Chip marker.
I used the Woodcut Holly jumbo wheel on the Handsome Hunter layer and edged with the HH marker. The bottom of the Real Red panel is trimmed with the Fiskars Clouds paper edger. I also made coordinated envelopes with a Judith pinecones stamp by coloring directly on the rubber with markers and then stamping on the lower left corner. This card measures 5 1/4 inch square.

Meticulous execution of this little beauty! Amazing how your scallops came out equal on the ends--that only happens for me by accident unless I use the slit punch. I'm not surprised that you made ten of these with such exquisite detail and precision (after all, you're labullard), but I'm still astounded and impressed! What a delight!

This is beautiful and awesome. I love your faux tile design; and thank you so much for the very detailed description. Your coloring and sponging are wonderful, and all the extra little touches combine to make this one fantastic card. TFS
