This week's featured stamper is Amy Rohla, who has a darling gallery. I always perk up when I notice she's posted something new, because I know it's sure to be a beauty and get me inspired. While browsing her gallery, I saw this cute cute card (Ter-ruff-ic Day! by rohla at Splitcoaststampers, which I had saved to my favorites a while back. And, since a) I needed to make my husband a birthday card; b) he drives a truck; and c) we are now the proud owners of TWO dogs (see story below if you're interested in knowing how this came to be), I knew this would be the one to CASE for the FS challenge.
My changes:
-- different color scheme
-- different background stamps
-- different embellishments
-- added the people to the cab of the truck, and subtracted one of the dogs from the rear
-- machine stitched on the 2nd layer instead of piercing
-- different sentiment on shrink paper tag
-- image is colored with Prismas & Gamsol instead of watercolors
It was great fun, and my first time to use 'shrinky-dinks' which I think is so doggone cute!
TFL!
Okay, so here's my dog story. DH & I went to an auction to support the foundation of the University that is located in our town, Rogers State University. Inevitably at one of these auctions, there is a puppy for auction, and I always threaten to bid on it. DH just kind of says "Yeah, whatever..." I came very close to getting a lab puppy last year at one of these, and guess what kind of puppy was for auction this time? Yep, you guessed it. The cutest little white lab you ever laid eyes on. DH wasn't at the table when the bidding on the dog started, and I just couldn't resist holding up my number. It was for a good cause! She was so cute! I just wanted to drive up the price! Well, low and behold, I somehow got the winning bid this time. They brought the dog to me, and I looked at the back of the room where my husband stood among a bunch of friends who were just laughing their heads off. I couldn't do anything but wave the puppy's paw 'hello' at DH, at that point! I made my way to the back of the room and greeted DH with "Happy Birthday!" (His birthday is later this week.) Anyway, he's been a wonderful sport about it and our boys were THRILLED when we walked in the door with Diva. (She was wearing a tiny purple boa, and it was the first thing I thought of when folks were asking what we were going to name her.) Anyway, she's a cutie-pie, and keep your fingers crossed that our DGSD (dear German Shepherd Dog) takes a strong liking to her! Thanks for reading my little story. This is why I should start a blog, so I won't bog down my card descriptions...

Great card and story! I was just thinking that I needed to pull out that little truck ... now you've inspired me to do so!
