My 10 yo DD had her heart set on some fancy jeans that didn't fit her, so when I found a pair of plain ones that did, I said she could jazz them up with fabric paint.
We first stamped the Doodle This pattern on to computer paper, then traced on the other side using the light box and a transfer pencil. Then we ironed the pattern on to the jeans (which didn't come out too well, we had to guess a lot of it).
Then we used the fabric paint straight on the jeans.
She's so excited about them! Just hope it lasts through the wash.

Adorable! I am sure that she will always remember you coming to her rescue with something even better than the ones she didn't get. You are a Mom that rocks!

Very cute idea... Cute jeans... Just wondering ... did you try to stamp the image directly onto the jeans? I think Craft Inks are good on fabric aren't they? then you could have cut out the middle work. Just a suggestion, and I just was wondering if you had tried and didn't work? hummm makes me want to go play now. cute pants, I am sure she looks adorable in them!!!!

Thanks for the lovely comments!
If I did this again, I'd stamp directly on the jeans in Classic ink, so it wouldn't be seen if I didn't get the paint on well.
I wouldn't use Craft, as it's only on there for a guide.
However, I think you can use Craft if you want to stamp on fabric, but nothing as heavy as jeans. I think you have to heat set it? I've seen some amazing silk scarves done in Craft ink, using Roses in Winter.
Maybe someone can help- would Craft ink be suitable for jeans- would it show up and wash well?
Karen.

Many lifetimes ago I painted on shirts. We set the paint by soaking a rag in white vinegar then laying it on top of the paint and ironing it dry. It really stank but it worked. When my mother passed away I found a couple of them that she had washed and worn. They were over 20 years old and still had the great vivid colors I'd used so long ago. Your jeans are so cute... good luck! If I were to do this now I'd do a small test, cuz I had used acrylic paint back then, not ink.
