This was my project this morning. It is a small album made from ONE 12 x 12 sheet of paper and then a cover for it.
The cover is chocolate chip and the band is more mustard. I made a band to slide on the outside to hold it shut but I also used my coluzzle to make a slip underneath. I did some paper punching along the band (one of my new favorite things to do).
The main image is from one of my newest sets - my hostess gift , Measure of a Life. I colored it in with my new watercolor pencils and then used a watercolor brush and water to blend it all together. I roughed up the edge of the main image with my scissors and matted it on a square of the more mustard and then on some vanilla paper. I then attached the right side only to the band so the image comes off when you slide the band off the book cover.
I plan on sending this full of pictures of my son to a friend who we haven't seen for a long time. I'm sure she will enjoy it.

The directions are fairly easy. I am an educator and I originally learned how to make these little books during a differentiated instruction workshop. I have also seen them lots on different blog sites - you should check them out!!
take a 12x12 sheet of paper. Fold down the center. Then fold both sides up to meet the center (it will be an accordian - valley fold, mountain fold, valley fold). This is where it gets a little tricky. Unfold and cut across left to right at 4 inches but DON'T cut the last 3 inches. Then measure down 4 more inches and cut across right to left but DON"T cut the last 3 inches. Refold your original valley, mountain, valley folds. Then fold the paper down and up where you did not cut. Voila, it should be a little booklet. Now just glue the back sides of the booklet together and make a cover. When you make the cover, make sure you cut it larger. The band is simple, just use scrap cardstock and fold the band around the total book and glue together. Just make sure it is loose enough to easily slide on and off. Decorate and embellish as desired :-)
HOpe that all makes sense. If it doesn't, PM me and I will try to clarify.
