My entry for JANVSBNE... background is pale plum stamped with Rhonna Farrer swirly stamps (stamped with Lavender Lace) and then accented with white gel pen. I used buttons to accent the photos, and then used a faux button on page 2 for the accent in the sketch. Here is the journaling:
It was my fault – I know that. Once again, failure to plan an event did me in! Sometimes my “flying by the seat of my pants” lifestyle just doesn’t cut it! Case in point – Easter, 2006. We’re in the mall. The Easter Bunny is waiting. The dress is perfect, the suit so sweet. We have, however, no shoes. We go to Penney’s and Eureka! They’re having a sale, buy one, get one free! I immediately find the perfect pair for Alyssa, stylin’ little white heals with butterfly clasps. We spend the next 50 minutes looking for the “free” pair. Of course, the logical choice is to get a pair of dress shoes for Josh, but no matter which style I pick his size is not available. I decide to get a second pair for Alyssa, but again, size is a problem. Eventually I pick another pair of sneakers for Josh – useless for the pictures and he already has a pair, but hey, they’re free! I stand in line another twenty minutes to buy them, only to find out that the initial pair we picked was not eligible for the buy one, get on free sale! Gggrrr.. Ok, I buy her pair and head to a Payless to buy a fast pair for Josh. By this time it is well past lunch time and the natives are getting restless. I buy the first pair I see, ugly little shoes that will never be worn again. We fly down the escalator and wait in line to see the bunny. Josh picks the Easter Bunny’s flowers while we are waiting in line and leaves a little petal trail behind us, but I don’t care. All I want is to get this picture and then change the kids’ clothes so we can eat! Finally the moment comes and the kids sit with the bunny and the photographer snaps the picture and all is well! Well, not exactly. It wasn’t until we got home that I noticed it. In the picture, you can’t see the shoes. Just another day in the life..
Thanks for looking and thanks for the great challenge! Everyone is doing such wonderful work - very inspirational!
