A friend asked me to create a set of seasonal farm scenes for her. I like how they turned out.
Watercolored with reinkers. I painted the birdy barns and chicken coop with creamy caramel, let dry and and went over them with Cranberry to add a barn red and then textured it with plain brown.
Winter Scene- I embossed with white craft ink daubed on the ground for snow and painted on the trees, barn and fence and then embossed with white EP. I used Krylon gold and painted a little hand sketched bell for the cow neck and attached with linen thread.
Spring Scene- I thought chicks would be the perfect animal for this scene. I skethced the trees and then the fern stamp for the leaves and the springy flowers. I used a fine brush to paint in the little flower bed on the right side of the scene.
Summer Scene- I hand sketched the trees and used the fern stamp for leaves. I sketched the chicken coop and cut it out to give depth. I cut out between the boards with a craft knife to allow the scene to show through. I cut out the chicken and popped it up to just to add one more layer of depth.
Fall Scene- I masked the birdy barn to make it look like the back of the barn. I sketched the trees and used the fern stamp to create the fall leaves on the tree and the ground. I didn't want the sheep to be facing the same way as the cow so I stamped it on my stamp-a-ma-jig mat and turned it over on the paper to stamp it in reverse. It was very light so I went over the image with my artist pen to fill in the color. I did a little bell for her neck, too and attached with linen thread.
