Here is another card I felt inspired to do for TLC97 challenge, "Shh... Things that make you feel peaceful."
Here in Japan they believe in tranquility and not showing loud emotions in public. So I thought I had to try something Asian, searched through my stamps and found the Bonsai. I used Japanese washi paper to frame the Bonsai and used chalks again to give a soft and peaceful look. I stamped lightly over it with linen and added the twine. I wanted to incorporate the Kanji symbol for tranquility, but it was too large, so I just stamped it on vellum and added it to the side.
Not knowing much about Bonsai, I decided to do some research. According to Bonsaisite.com
"To the Japanese, bonsai represents a fusion of strong ancient beliefs with the Eastern philosophies of the harmony between man, the soul and nature." Bonsai has been around for over a thousand years originating in China. It was the Japanese though, that took it to a much higher level of art and zen. Bonsai represents true Japanese culture. ...Thanks for looking!
