I stamped the basket and leaves on wood veneer using black Stazon. I coloured in the image using Earth Elements markers. It worked well, but the blender pen didn't work so well. I rubbed on some Tried and True (linseed oil & beeswax) with cheesecloth to bring out the grain of the wood, then mounted the veneer card on chocolate chip and mounted that onto a colour-blocked background. I added faux stitching with black marker and a little sentiment on the corner.
I made this card for my sample board. I was doing a workshop where a guest was interested in stamping on wood. I thought I would try it out before recommending anything and one thing led to another and I liked it enough to turn it into a card front. I used a strong adhesive (465 tape) to affix the veneer to the card stock. Glue dots would work, I'm sure. If I were to do this again, I would take the trouble to get out my stamp-a-majig to get the sentiment in the right spot (sigh...).
I got the wood veneer and Tried and True from Lee Valley Tools (www.leevalley.com). They sell packages of business card sized sheets of veneer ($2.95CAD for 50) that can be stamped on for cards, or to make into tags. http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.a...at=1,250,43217
Lee Valley Tools has Canadian and American info on its website and they do mail order. I have no affiliation with Lee Valley Tools - I just like their stuff and their business practices.
