I made these for workshop samples. They were a BIG hit, and everyone purchased the supplies needed to make them on their own.
These are single sided as the other side has the domino numbers. You could always cover that side with a piece of stamped cardstock if you wanted to. I might do that for holiday gifts so I can write a TO: FROM: and the date.
I've found that the cheapo ribbon from Michaels or AC Moore adheres to the domino better than the nice SU ribbon (the ridges don't stick as well). Also - the Miss Elizabeth brand double sided tape dispensers they sell at the Dollar Tree are exactly the right width to roll onto the ribbon without having extra tape hang over the edge. It makes for a much neater project.
DIRECTIONS for stamping on dominos:
I used stazon ink to stamp the image with. For the best result, lay the inked up stamp down on your work surface and press the domino into it. The stamp tends to wiggle if you do it the other way around. Either wait a few minutes for it to dry, or hit it with a heat gun for a few seconds. Then I colored mine in with sharpies. Be careful NOT to color over the stazon with the sharpie as the sharpie will take the ink off. I added crystal effects and sprinkled dazzlin diamonds over it to get the sparkle.
You can also color the images with acrylic craft paint, and some gel pens will work too. I have used our watercolor pencils with blender pens in the past on tiles, so I would imagine they would also work on dominos. Be warned that the blender pen will also take the stazon ink off of the domino (and this can ruin the blender pen).
I haven't bothered to seal the ornaments as they shouldn't get wet. When I make pins out of the smaller dominos, I do seal them with krylon just in case they get hit by rain.

What a great idea!!! I think I will have my afterschool kids make these as gifts for their parents. How did you get the ribbon and string to stay on the back and hold the weight of the dominoe? Please Pm me with the details, awesome job and what a great insperation.
