Journalling reads:
I’m sure this doesn’t make me mom-of-the-year to admit it. But you challenge me. And I don’t mean in the “you make me want to be a better person” sweetsie way. I mean in the “you make me rip my hair out and feel crazy inside” way. There are days I honestly don’t know what to do with you.
Emily says it is the second-child-syndrome. YouÂ’re just more daring, more of a risk-taker than Libby ever was. Libby never climbed in the toilet! And I donÂ’t mean to compare the two of you, but I was unprepared for the challenges you throw at me on a daily basis.
God has blessed you with an amazingly charming personality and I truly think He knew what He was doing, because you need that cute smile to help me forgive you for some of the antics you pull! I know that all 2 year olds can be frustrating but sometimes I truly think I wonÂ’t make it to your 3rd birthday without being incarcerated for freaking out and doing something insane.
When I get to the end of my rope and I’m on my knees begging God for the grace to cope, for the strength to make it through today, you always manage to make me fall in love again. Sometimes you climb on my lap and ask for “hugs and kisses”. Or I’ll overhear you singing a song in your tiny, sweet voice. And then I melt and I remember that today will come and go. And I will make it through the challenges of today. And you are worth it. And I love you, always, even when you challenge me. When I’m crying out to God “Help!” He’s responding, “I am helping, I gave you Katie, to teach you grace, to teach you true love.”

Oh, my goodness! You put huge tears in my eyes that are now running down my face! I could have written those words (not the toilet part, but I've got other stunts I could have substituted!) about my 2nd child. I have thought those "I'll never make it to your 3rd b-day (and if I do YOU probably won't)". How special to get those thoughts down along with the extreme loving feelings you have for her.
Just imagine, when she is a mom struggling w/the same things, Katie will be able to pull out her book and see that her momma went through the exact same things, and gain great comfort from it.
Lovely, lovely, lovely page. It got to the heart and soul of your love. Truly scrapbooked your memories. Bravo.
