This was a technique I saw in a recent issue of Paper Crafts. It's kind of the same as polished stone, except instead of putting the alcohol inks & gold leafing pen on the cotton ball (or applicator) you put it directly on the glossy paper & then just spread the ink a little bit with the alcohol (blending solution). I stamped over the background with black StazOn.
Tile is plexiglass with only the red alcohol ink & gold ink. Stamped with StazOn and edged with the Krylon Gold Leafing pen. This tile has nothing behind it, I masked off the area where it would go when I stamped the background.
Sentiment stamps were colored with Gold Leafing pen and stamped. I found that VERY VERY gently stamping off once works best for the sentiments.
