This card was made using a mask of the background stamp. It took a bit to make the mask, but then you can use it over and over again. I stamped the background with stazon onto a clear overhead projector sheet. I then cut out (with my craft knife or paper cutter) all of the insides of the boxes.
After you have the mask made, you just stamp your background stamp on your card and tape the mask to the top of it and stamp over it. In this example, I outlined the boxes and the words I wanted with a marker on the background stamp. Then I stamped the snowflakes over the original image with the mask on. Then I used cotton balls to apply a light mottled blue color to the whole image.
Hope this helps! This idea was completely cased from one I saw a while back, I just modified it with the Holiday theme.

I have a few projects using this "technique" saved in My Favorites but haven't done any myself yet. I absolutely love the blue and white holiday cards - my absolute favorites. I may have to finally break down and give this a try. Very pretty, love the sparkly snowflakes.
