Turned a Michaels's wooden CD holder into a cute ribbon holder. Make sure to put a grossgrain ribbon spool in to align where to put the dowel for ease of dispensing your ribbons. I drilled one side all the way through and the opposite end I only drilled half way so that the dowel sits in it's proper place but the side that is away from the wall doesn't have a hole in it. I also put a strip of 2-way tape along the edge to hold the ribbon tails in place. Yes I'm OCD!
Nice thing is you can stack several of these babies together and they are very stable.
I could however use some suggestions on how to prevent all the spools from unravelling when you pull on one. I have weaved them through the back opening but the adjoining two spools still unravel a bit.

great idea! what about some sort of washer or disc or nut between the ribbon to keep them from rubbing the next spool and turning it? Just a theory - no actual experience. Mine are all in a bin and it's really scary in there!
