I'm not sure how lesramsey measured her sample, but I just cut a piece of cardboard just slightly larger than a standard card (or whatever finished size you are after) to use as a folding template. Lay it on copy or designer paper and do a meat wrap fold over the template. Start at 6 o'clock, fold and crease, then 9 and 3 o'clock. Finish up with 12 o'clock, and wrap around the other flaps to hold everything together. With heavier paper it is the stationary and the envelope ~ didn't know it was called Mennonite fold ~ that is cool ~ thanks for sharing the idea!

(It's called a Mennonite fold note because the M's would fold their letters this way so they could mail them without an envelope.)
Start with an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper, placed vertically. Fold the top right corner down leaving a left margin of about 1 1/2 inches. Make sure the edges are parallel.
Fold the bottom left corner up so that the left edge of the paper meets the edge of the first folded corner. Turn your note so that the bottom right corner points south. Fold the bottom corner up about 4", keeping the side edges parallel.
Turn the note 180 degrees so the remaining point is at the south. Fold this up so that the top part of the point sticks up above the top edge of the note. Flip the note over and fold the remaining point down.
You can seal the note by placing a stamp on the little folded flap.
