journaling: The trail is muddy and slippery and sometimes even hard to follow a trail at all, you can stop and listen for voices of other hikers echoing in the canyon, even hearing the giggles of children ahead in the far distance. You think to yourself, if they can do this, surely I can. You have to cross a pair of bridges that give you a fantastic view of the canyon. You finally get to the bamboo forest and know that you are getting closer, it gets really dark even though it's almost noon, the muddy trail is gone and you find yourself on a boardwalk and wonder who built this and did they have to carry all the equipment up here by hand. The boardwalk makes the climb much easier and faster which is a good thing as you have gained 650 feet.
