I experimented with creating backgrounds using SU, DO ink, DO spray, and Dylusion spray, but unfortunately, all of the backgrounds turned out bland. I am using standard cardstock, so I am uncertain how much of the outcome is due to the paper quality versus the ink choice.
However, while continuing to work with the technique, I eventually created a background that I really liked. I turned it into a Halloween card, using a wonderful die-cut set that required me to piece together the tombstone one small die-cut at a time. It was fun, but also time-consuming. I added the raven and the weeds. I used a Cricut to cut out the sentiment, and I am pleased with how it turned out.
I'm definitely going to revisit this technique as it is fun and simple.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day for a closer look.

The bg is wonderful for a Halloween card, Brian. I love the gravestone with the chains - so worth the effort. A fun card!

Very atmospheric and a totally fabulous background.
Some of those dies are definitely on the fiddly side but always worth it (for someone special, anyway!).
I felt I liked the results on glossy card best, and it's probably also true that my white cardstock is not very absorbent compared to some. But you ended up with a really super piece here, and I hope you will find a use for those you were less happy with. I always find die-cutting or punching will make even the most ugly backgrounds into something worth using.

This IS a really cool background and turning it into a Halloween card was a good choice. I really like this even though I don't like Halloween. I like your die cuts too.

That's a terrific Halloween card, I love the background you've created and whatever didn't work, you've got a beautiful card, maybe you could try on some glossy magasin paper just to see if you have a better result, I've tried this technique in so many ways, and I love it also with alcohol ink and then you mist with rubbing alcohol maybe that could work on card stock
