I needed a birthday card for a friend who likes the seashore and the color blue. I decided to break out a bunch of nautical-themed ribbons I got at Dollar Tree last year and take another whack at the technique challenge for this week, dry embossing ribbon with an embossing folder.
I cut a length of wide double-sided tape and attached to a scrap of white cardstock. I peeled back the second side and attached several different designs of nautical ribbons. I trimmed to a narrower rectangle and dry embossed with a Spellbinders folder that gave a wave-like impression ( I think it's actually supposed to be stylized peacock feathers?).
Rather than die cut afterward and squish out the embossing, I attached the rectangle to the base card and cut another rectangle of light blue card stock the same size as the card front. I lined up an elongated hexagon die and die cut the cardstock so that the opening would be over the ribbon piece. I attached this to the card front with foam tape.
On another white cardstock scrap, I stamped the boat pieces and the sentiment and cut out. I assembled the boat on the card front and stamped the seagulls directly on the card. I trimmed the sentiment strip into a banner shape and glued to the edge of the ribbon opening, and added a piece of foam tape to lift it on the other end. I stamped the "Best.Day.Ever" sentiment inside the card.
USEIT2023: Love the Let's Set Sail set and happy to use it again. The ribbons were all bought last summer when DT had a bunch of beachy craft/decor stuff, but I hadn't used them til today. Thanks for looking!
