80th - octogenarian - birthday wishes are on the agenda for this week's Teapot Tuesday challenge. I created this background by first spritzing blue Dylusions spray then topping with a stencil using a similar, but slightly darker, blue ink. The focal point is the golden numbers and octagon frame which were cut out of gold cardstock then layered three times to add some depth and dimension to an otherwise plain card. Added a few gold stars and sequins to finish it off.
This week's teaparty is special to me because it's for my Dad. He'll be celebrating his 80th birthday on the 19th and to be honest, I'm not sure he's really looking forward to it. On one hand, he is pretty healthy and active but on the other, I think he's realizing he's slowing down a bit. Dad has always been the leader and the strong guy so I think it's hard for him to surrender to the notion he might need help with certain things. Anyway, I love my Dad very much and hope he's got many more years ahead of him. I surely do appreciate everyone's help in making his 80th birthday a little more special.

My DH is 81, and we had a big party for him on his 80th. I hope your Dad enjoys his birthday more than you think! With all the cards, it should help. I love your bg in bold blue and the gold. Very nice for a guy!

That bg is stunning! and I love how the gold plays against those beautiful blues. Your Dad will surely love this both for its beauty for the artist who created it.
I know what you mean about accepting "slowing down". My hubby, who was much like your Dad, is now 82 and has had some serious back problems. So, he isn't able to lift and mend and handle some of the things around the house he did with ease even into his late-70s. But he is still happy and healthy and chugging along. I wish the same for your Dad. Hugs.
