I created this as a birthday card for a friend who is blind. I used a small Braille slate & stylus to "write" happy birthday on the greeting strip. It got kind of blown out in the photo, though.
I created the facial tissue flower as per the tutorial instructions here on Splitoast. (I can't find the gallery to link my card to, though! :() Rather than thread, I secured my layers with thin beading wire. For the embossed panel, I followed a video I found on YouTube on embossing toilet paper. Yes, toilet paper! I stacked about 4 or 5 layers in the embossing folder, spritzed that liberally with water, & ran it through my machine. Then I let it dry thoroughly.
After my embossed TP panel had dried, I noticed little black spots in it. So I decided some color was in order. I wasn't sure if spray mist would take the texture out, but I decided to try anyway. So I sprayed it with Teal Color Shine, & it worked like a charm! It hid all the black spots & gave a nice color & sheen, without ruining the embossed texture. Yay!
I glued the embossing panel to my card base. I adhered my greeting strip, & then used E6000 glue to stick down the flower, to make sure that stayed put! I didn't get to deliver the card in person, but I got an e-mail from our friend afterwards that she loved it. I still haven't told her what I used to make it, but I will soon!
