I got the inspiration for this card from a holiday card video Nichol Spohr did last March or April. She used a barnwood type stamp with light grey ink & added her images over that. I decided to stencil bricks, & then stencil my wreath over the bricks, to make it look like it's hung on a wall.
I stenciled the bricks on a panel of white cardstock, & then started on the wreath. I discovered (the hard way, of course) that with the wreath stencils, it's important, if you're going to add the holly layer, to begin with that. That layer is wider than the "base" of the wreath, so if you don't do the holly first, it can throw off your design. This is actually my second panel, because I didn't guesstimate the spacing on my first correctly, & the holly went off the card slightly in one spot. I'm enough of a perfectionist that I just couldn't let it go! Thankfully, it didn't take a long time to redo that much of it.
I stamped the solid part of my banner with red ink, & used a slightly darker red for the shadow section under each end. Finally, I heat embossed the banner outline & then the greeting. I had to curve the greeting stamp to follow the banner - something I still have not perfected. But I don't think it came out too bad. I adhered the middle of my banner flat to the card, & popped up the ends with itty bitty pieces of foam tape - just for a little something-something.
I didn't like the empty space at the bottom of the panel, but I couldn't cut the wreath portion into a square card. So I decided to add a red ribbon near the bottom, to tie into the banner & berries. After I adhered the ends of that around the back of my card front, I mounted the panel to a white card base.
