About a year ago, I made a junk journal for Falliday Fest and I'm trying to remember to add to it. I was sad I couldn't do last week's MIX, honoring Queen Elizabeth II and I'm happy to finally do so today. Thank you, Ky; I watched a lot of the coverage and have always been fascinated by her. Hoping it's not too sacrilegious, I have a decal of her on my back passenger window. People have asked if I will remove her....are you kidding?? No way. She is waving goodbye.
This is also for today's MIX-homecoming. We are to use our school colors/mascot. Menomonee Falls High school has undergone a big transformation since I graduated. The high school was overcrowded (560 kids in my class of 1970), so a new building was built and my class was the first split in half. The old high school, which is where I graduated from, had purple and white and the new high school was burgundy and gray/silver. We were the Indians and they were the Titans. Now the high school have been combined back again and are called the Phoenix, fortunately getting away from the Indians. Colors are still the burgundy/gray. Many are unhappy about the name change but I'm not...it was not appropriate any longer. The Versafine Clair color is monarch, suitable for the Queen. I have to admit, when I saw the color name, I was confused....monarchs are orange and black. Then it dawned on me. Silly American! The leaf/heart stencil seemed appropriate, I cut a bunch of florals out of shimmery paper (she loved her gardens), used a 'thank you' postage stamp from the US and her picture as a young Queen. All are mounted on a pattern direction paper, a nod to the Queen's extensive and colorful wardrobe.
Finally this is for the first MMJ2022 for September. I used shimmery paper, the 'grateful' diecut has three layers, there are 9 gems standing in for the Crown Jewels and there is the photo of the Queen.
Thanks for all the challenges, everyone. This was very fun and came together quite easily.

What a great page to honour our Queen. I love how you used the dressmaking paper. She certainly left her mark. Her photo in the circle is beautiful. Some beautiful elements and thanks for the story behind everything. She will be missed. May she RIP. Happy weekend Jean

Fantastic collage, Jean. to commemorate the Queen’s reign…..I love the floral elements and colors and just everything you have used. I enjoyed your story too. I saw the Queen in person when she visited Tasmania around 1954. There was a large regatta for her and we were all dressed in our Sunday best.
