I have had the "Color Layering Cherries" set for a while, and all I'd done with it so far was test-stamp ink colors for the layers. A friend of ours has a birthday coming up, & so I decided - since it's still Summer & (I presume) also still cherry season - to pull this set out & use it on a card.
I die cut the cherries from white cardstock first, so I would be sure to get the stamp placement correct. I taped the die cut back into the negative space (tape on the back side), so I could hold it in my MISTI with the magnet. I used Pear Tart & Bamboo Leaves for the stems & leaves; & Love Letter, Sweet Plum (on the base layer over the Love Letter), & Elderberry for the cherries. I then inked up just the stems with Sweet Plum, & stamped over the green, just to make it a bit more authentic. I went over the highlights on the cherries themselves with a white gel pen.
I cut the blue panel, & marked lines 3/8" from each side on the back. I used the lines to help me center my 3/4" circle punch, and punched the corners out, as per the sketch. I heat embossed the "Brush Spatter Background" with clear powder on that, just for a bit of added interest.
I made my accent banner to go behind the greeting from a scrap of patterned paper from my stash. I felt it blended in to the buffalo check too much, so I inked the edges with Stormy Sky Distress ink. I also went back & inked the edges of my image background, mostly for consistency.
I white heat embossed the greeting onto a strip of mint paper, cut the ends in a fishtail, & inked the edges with Stormy Sky.
I adhered my background paper - which I thought looks like a tablecloth pattern - to a white card base, & then adhered my image panel (to which I'd glued my cherries), accent banner, & greeting. I think this card came out so cute, & I'm sure the recipient will, too!
