I live in Sugar Land, Texas, who got its name from the Imperial Sugar Company that was established here in 1843, 2 years before Texas became a part of the United States of America. This area use to have fields and fields of sugar cane. Although the headquarters have now moved from Sugar Land, Texas, we still pridefully remain the same name. I like to add that it is where sweet people live. LOL
So, since Imperial Sugar had its roots even when Texas was a Republic in and of itself, I proudly added paper punched Texas shape on my card. Every proud Texan should own one of those punches. I found mine years ago in a shop in Austin (which was kind of pricely, but when you gotta have it, ya' gotta have it!) And of course, we southeners have to have our sweet tea, so I used this sentiment.
This was a fun challenge and I look forward to finding out some fun facts from other places around this world. Thanks, for this fun challenge, Sabrina.

You are indeed a sweet person, Liz! Enjoyed your little history tidbit. Your card shows the proud Texan/American that you are. Love your collage of images and various plaids.

Thanks for the history. The only time I've been in TX is driving to AZ! We saw lots of cows then! Love your town name, sounds like a sweet place. Love your punched Texas too. Fun card. (Can't do sweet tea though.)

I love your paper, the punch of TX, but sweet tea - not so much. Sweet people do indeed come from there, if you are an example, mf!! We have relatives in Arlington who are not so happy with the heat extremes!

Gosh, I never knew that was where the name Sugarland came from. How interesting - and what a great image of the sugar bag. My last line manager used to spend her summers in a sugarcane region of Spain, but I don't think they grow it any more.

Sweet people DO come from Texas, Liz, and you and Lynn are two of the sweetest I know. I loved reading about your sweet town of Sugarland, and seeing your proud colours and coveted Texas punch. Yes, you just gotta splurge on those must haves, girl!
