Lisa is our TPT challenge hostess this week: MMTPT717 - April 19, 2022 - Fun Craft Technique by Shoe Girl at Splitcoaststampers.
Our cards are going to a fellow card-maker so we are to use fun techniques. I chose to use the Sanded Pencil Background technique, a favourite of mine. In fact I then combined it with embossing with stencils to get another couple of backgrounds out of it, but this one is the first generation.
I used Floral Lace from Newton's Nook for my technique panel.
Base was sponged with peeled paint and stamped with a curly background stamp in gold.
Vine was embossed with Textile ef and buffed lightly with Inka Gold.
The butterflies came from my butterfly box, they're Inktense on watercolour paper, and I added Stickles all around the edges.

Thank you for the link to the sanded pencil tutorial .... this one was a new one to me. Your background is very interesting and unique .... love your sponged and stamped card front, too!

What a cool technique. I hadn't seen that one before and I love the textured distress look it gives. Beautiful bg for your beautiful butterflies. I bet they look even better IRL. Awesome sentiment. Wonderful card to send cheer to a fellow card maker. I'm sure she will adore this.

I am always amazed at the backgrounds you create with this sanded pencil technique. (I have NEVER gotten it to work for me) The grape tones with the olive greens is beyond lovely.
