First of all, I apologize for the title of my card.
If you live anywhere near the Block Island Ferry, you will have the jingle stuck in your head all day.
Today's Tea Party was requested by Icela52 (MaryJo) for her nephew in Rhode Island who was just diagnosed with cancer. She tells us that Brian enjoys visiting Block Island, so I have provided a fun Block Island themed challenge for us today. For my card, I used a piece of road map with the route from Cranston to Block Island drawn in. Side note--this map is from 1972 and it tells me that it costs $2.75 to drive the entire length of the Mass Pike. In order to fit the entire state of Rhode Island on my card, I had to make it a slimline card. That inspired me to finally try out my slimline lift the flap die. To keep it simple and masculine and to also reflect Brian's love of his pool, I just sponged the top layer with Tumbled Glass using my Perfect Pool Water stencil. I thought this stamp from The Project Bin was perfect for Brian. Also, the circular shape of it represents the glass floats well. I hope you enjoyed reading about the glass floats hidden all over the island. And I hope you'll join our Tea Party this week.
Slimline cards are so hard to photograph, but to be able to show both the inside and outside of the flap was really difficult. I had to take two different photos and overlay them. I hope you can get the idea of the card.

Oh wow this is so cool...love that you found this old map. I love that watery front using our favorite stencil. Great idea for the Teaparty theme this week!

this is neat - about 10 years ago or longer I attended a stamp convention in Ohio, and a guy was selling templates for envelopes. He demonstrated with an old map book, using it for his envelopes (with a white label stamp for the address). I went on a mission at yard sales and picked up a couple of old books of maps, and still have some - I make all my own envelopes, and this really sets them off. This came out as a great card !

Brilliant idea to use the map. I bet he sits and traces his route and remembers many happy times traveling to one of his favorite place. And you know I'm a big fan of that pool stencil. Luckily, I knew nothing about Block Island til today, so no jingle stuck in my head right now...LOL... but I thoroughly enjoyed reading about it and would love to visit one day. Wonderful card, Jen.

Love the whole idea of a map to Block Island. I still prefer an atlas for planning a car trip to help me visualize where I'm going then GPS can guide me through the fine details . . . .
