Made for Sketch Saturday Challenge #693 ( https://sketchsaturday.blogspot.com/...ketch-693.html ), this birthday card focuses on pattern papers. The toucan was fussy cut from Stampin' Up! (SU) "Birthday Bonanza" designer series paper (DSP) and glued to a stack of three white ovals that were die cut and glued together.
The column of balloons, and row of candles are also from that same paper back. For the candles, I trimmed them along the bottom and top so only a single row of candles would show.
The sentiment was created by hot foiling with black foil using Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil system and their "Yana's Special Sentiments" happy birthday plate.
The final touch was the ribbon as per the sketch. I don't use ribbon often (despite having a whole antique ribbon display case full!), but wanted to stay true to the sketch.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5". The hardest part was tying the bow!
