This card worked for both the mixed media challenge and the âuse stuff you have laying aroundâ challenge.I knew I wanted to do some paint background and I had two jars of colors, darker and lighter green, I had mixed up for my recent experiments with dot mandala painting so I swipe them onto some white watercolor paper with a mostly dry brush. I over stamped with medium green ink using the handwriting stamp and trimmed the edges. The green card base was looking a little plain so I inked up a stencil brush with the same hero arts ink pad and did a little stenciling around the edges before attaching the painted background piece. I die cut the tree from white paper, cut off the star at the top, and used a scrap of wood grain paper to make the pot base. I used glue to attach the tree.
I had made up a set of the stars from some Dollar Tree craft supplies a few weeks ago. There were some intricately cut wood stars which I painted using gold and silver paints and then decorated with gold and silver glitter blue. They were sitting in a dish on my desk waiting for me to figure out a use for them so I grabbed a gold one and glued it to my card. I stamped the sentiment on white cardstock, punched it out, and edged it with the same green ink before attaching it with foam tape. Finished by gluing a few scattered sequins. Told my wife I wasnât sure whether it looks like cool artsy collage or a failed sixth grade art project, but she said itâs the first so Iâm going with that!
Also a quick word of WOO HOO! for that label punchâ¦one of my old Stampin Up white whales Iâve been watching Ebay for FOREVER hoping for a reasonable price. Finally scored one with the added bonus of a stamp set meant to coordinate with it! Now I just need that narrow rounded word window punch that layers so well with this one and my 2010 selfâs wish list will be complete, lol!

What a gorgeous painted BG and that wood embellishment is amazing too. I recently was gifted a box of wood embellishments and need to get to using them up because they are taking up a bunch of space in my tote.
