We're sending paper smiles and happy mail to JRHolbrook's (aka Judy aka Gracie) father-in-law this week. His assisted living facility is currently in lock down and he is missing all his friends -- especially his "lady friends". When I read that he was a "ladies man", I immediately thought "bees to honey"; and, when I read we are sending smiles, I immediately thought sunflower because I have NEVER seen a sunflower card that didn't make me smile. And Rex was a farmer so he probably appreciates the hard work bees do for farmers and gardeners.
For the card, I embossed the front of the card base. Cut a slope on the yellow cs and added the sentiment. I was going to cut a scalloped edge, but then thought a dapper guy like Rex would prefer a smooth curve. I did enlarge the flower stamp from this set because I wanted a very big flower. The flower and bees were printed, colored and fussy cut and then everything was glued down.
For the Word Play:
S: Sunshine, Sunflower, Slope
M: Mailed (or will be soon)
I: Ink
L: Lettuce Green (I'm getting a bit desperate here)
E: Edited (I forgot to add the word play and came back to edit)
It's hard to be isolated at any time but especially when you are very friendly and love company. I hope the lock down ends soon so Rex can resume his friendly rounds of the estate. And, I hope you are enjoying whatever "rounds" you are engaged in today as well. TFL.

Such a happy card is the cheerful yellows. The bees buzzin' around that big blossom are the best!!

Gorgeous! Love the bold flower and the awesome heat embossing. A fabulous job coloring the bees and fussy cutting them, too. Love the EF bricks and the yellow curvy topper.

Wow, you are too funny and creative to boot. Coming back to add smile, thus getting your "E" letter done! Love the way you think! This will definetly put a smile on Rex's face!

I totally agree, sunflowers always bring smiles, they're just such a happy flower. Last year I grew dwarf ones and DH was very disappointed - he's happy that this year I also planted some tall ones, even if he seems to spend forever staking them against the wind, LOL.
I like your bees and love that curve along the top of the brick wall.

Debbie, what a thoughtful, creative card for Rex! He's going to love this, as well as all his lady friends! They are out of lock down now! YAY! When we brought him back from a drive to see the fall colors, many of the ladies were sitting on the front porch. They all have big smiles for him and shout hello! He grins from ear to ear as he joins them on the porch. Rex took care of his wife of 68 years at their home for many years until she passed away from Alzheimers. He deserves all the admiration and attention he's getting now!
