This week's Tea Party is for Erling who recently lost his wife, Dorothy, to cancer; and, Dorothy is our muse. She was a retired French teacher who loved to travel, cruise, read, cross-stitch and make cards.
So, I know that "cruise" for Erling and Dorothy means on a big beautiful steamship; but, the term reminded me of my youth and I thought I might take Erling on a trip down memory lane with me. In the 50's and 60's, to "cruise" meant to hop in the coolest car around and drive the main drag or your favorite drive-in. I grew up in Los Angeles so there were many "main drags" but we mainly cruised Sunset Strip or the local Bob's Big Boy. So funny how we entertained ourselves before we had video games.
As a nod to Dorothy's career as a French teacher, I used the French national colors of red, white and blue. And, or course, any "hot" hotrod was painted hot red.
I hope our cards bring fond and happy memories to Erling of his time with his beloved wife. And, I hope you take time to make some memories with your loved ones this week too. TFL.
EDIT: Oops I forgot to add: The car stamp was a bit smaller than I wanted so I stamped it and then scanned it into my computer where I could enlarge the image. The sentiment is computer generated using Machine Script font,
And yes, Vickydee, now that song is stuck in my head. Luckily it's a song I really like. LOL.

A great take on "cruising", and a super masculine card.
I like the car! We were just watching The Maltese Falcon this evening and DH was swooning (nearly) over those old American cars. Mind you, yours has a great look of some of the old Citroens, tying in with the French theme.

love it ! My brother had a 1941 Pontiac given to him from a family who moved here from Holland... he did yard work for them when he was a teen. Someone gave them the car as a 'starter' car, and they gave it to him (around 1965)... Erling will love this card and I'm sure it'll bring back some kind of memories for him as well...

A fantastic idea to stamp and then enlarge the car design to fit the card! Car tread BG is awesome and the coloring on the car, perfect. Love the headline, too...
