I made this journal cover for Jayne's challenge: July 1st - MMJ024 - MAKING ART JOURNALS USING MAGAZINES.
I didn't have a lot of magazines to choose from, so I used an old worn out children's book by Dr. Suess. I love the videos Jayne shared. There were some beautiful journals...mine turned out kinda funky. I hope to create a magazine journal eventually, too.
I used duct tape to hold the book together as it was falling apart. I brushed gesso around the book title and monkey.
I stamped some images and also, used some printed images, which I glued on. I also stamped a couple of sayings. Then I started doodling with gel pens and markers. I also painted some areas with acrylics. I sponged on some turquoise paint. The more that I looked at it, the more I doodled, outlined and wrote on it. I used lots of dot patterns. It was so much fun and I worked on it over several days. Very therapeutic...not sure what it all means! LOL Thanks Jayne for the inspiration!

Ooh Gracie this is awesome. So much to look at. I love all the hands, the legs, the doodles. I’m so glad that you played and enjoyed it. It is therapeutic isn’t it? I’m finding I enjoy this stuff more than anything else lol. As Dyan Reaveley says..it doesn’t have to mean a thing. All it has to do is make you smile and happy. This made me smile. Thank you for playing in my challenge. Happy day and hugs
