This is my card for CC851. Barbara is our hostess and she chose polished pink, coastal cabana and silver for her color trio. Dessert option this week is Christmas in July. In fact we are celebrating with a Christmas in July theme all month.
I really liked the colors that Barbara chose and thought they would be perfect for a poinsettia. I cut the image from Bristol smooth cardstock and then used a blending brush to apply the color.
For the flower, I used Kitsch Flamingo distress ink and then brushed the edges with polished pink. By using the blending brush I was able to get a softer hue of the polished pink color. For the leaves I again used the blending brush and coastal cabana ink.
The flower center are beaded pearls from Stampin'-Up. The Merry phrase is a die from PaperTrey Ink and is cut from polished pink cardstock.
I like the subtle sparkle on my background designer paper. It's something I have had in my stash for years. To finish off my card, I scattered a few coastal cabana enamel dots.
Hope you can play along with us this week for Christmas in July. These are some great non-traditional colors for Christmas card making.

Mary, I adore the soft look you achieved with your blending brushes and Bristol paper! And adding the Polished Pink on the edges of the petals creates such depth! Love this card!

I have such a fondness for poinsettias during the holiday. It's something that my Mom loved at Christmas and it has stuck with me all of these years. Really beautiful card, my friend!
