Our Tea Party Guest, Patti, recently had a heart attack and underwent heart surgery. You might think the title of this card is about her heart being repaired and it could be. But, it's because I saw a card with the hummingbirds and flowers and instantly bought the set. And it's one of those sets with so many fiddly bits (thank-you Jen aka Jennifrann for my new favorite die word: "fiddly"). So, it really is all about the card.
I started by making an Alcohol Ink bg -- always fun. Then I GLUED together the first hummingbird. I GLUED blooms onto the stems and doubled up on a couple for what I hope is a bit of added interest. Die cut the hearts from the panel and two pieces of white card stock so I could pop up part of the heart (GLUING here). I had already decided on this sentiment stamp and told myself to make sure I used a heart that would fit. No...by the time I got to this point I had completely lost that thought. Luckily the craft elves must have known and stepped in because I was able to squeeze it just barely onto the cut heart. I clear embossed it after stamping so it wouldn't smear. GLUED it into place. GLUED the flowers onto the panel. Then decided using the same green on the bird didn't work because it disappeared. So I made another hummingbird and decided to made the second style of bird since at that point I wasn't sure which one would work best. After that bit of GLUING, I decided both hummingbirds were required and GLUED them both down. So you see, it really is about the card. And, if you think I am complaining, I'm not. I really did enjoy pulling this all together. But, note to self: next time you fall in love with a die cut card look at the actual die before you buy...maybe.
Hummingbirds always make me smile and often laugh. I hope this card will make Patti smile and bring her some joy. As I wrote in her note, I truly believe joy is good for the soul. I hope you find joy in whatever you are doing today. Hugs All. TFL

I am tired but reading the story behind your card made me chuckle...and giggle, ok, I admit, I laughed! Your card is well worth it, though, because this looks amazing! I love the saturated pink AI background - it sets off the paler pink flowers beautifully, and the hummingbirds are fantastic! Also, the Mother Teresa quote is perfect for this card *chef's kiss* (Now, did you get the glue off your hands already? ;))

A beautifully GLUED together card! I really love the beautiful hummingbirds die! So beautiful. The flowers are so pretty and I love that quote by Mother Teresa- and so glad it fit perfectly into the space of the heart!

Oh, I totally hear you on the fiddly die sets. Tim Holtz springs to mind immediately, like my WT country scene last week. But with plenty of time, they can be rather zen and mindful. I looked up the die set - at least it looks like one where you can cut each coloured piece only in the colour you desire. That's do much more practical than the ones that are just one single door so you either have to cut in white and colour everything, or you end up with 6 pink leaves that you're not going to use for anything. I'm glad that serendipity smiled on you and the sentiment fit your heart. Love your inky background.

Beautiful card..that AI bg is awesome and I hear ya about the fiddly bits. My problem with those is usually dropping the tiny pieces and then not being able to find them...I should just cut several on the first go round...When I read your title my first thought was...boy she's brave to use "super glue" on a card...LOL

I love this garden that you created with your flowers and hummingbirds .... it seems you had quite an adventure in the process, but my goodness, it is so beautiful! Your sentiment is extra special and meaningful! Patti will surely love this!

I had fun reading your story about making this card, I don't know the word fiddly, need to check the translation, okay I've found "delicate".
I love the alcohol inked bg, love the flowers and hummingbirds and love the color combo!!

This is a case of fiddy equals beautiful. I love your card and hubby just walked by and saw it on the computer and thought so, also. I am glad your craft elves came to the rescue. Please send some of them to me. Ha This is sure to cheer Patti the minute she opens it up and takes it from the envelope.

I can SO relate to your description and yes I was one who was giggling along but GLUED to the process. This turned out great - perhaps a "meant to be" card because fiddly or not each element works - I particularly like how the heart and frame from the alcohol bg have been nested back into their origins.

Your card is a burst of beauty! I not only appreciate your time consuming creation, but the story behind your design process and how you felt about it. TFS it all!
