This week's Tea Party is for Julie who is battling breast cancer and has been dubbed "Wonder Woman" by her friends. I think that is just such a cool moniker for her. When I googled quotes for strength and hope, this really wonderful one from Maya Angelou popped up right away. I thought it might be perfect for Julie right now as she is going through a lot to eventually come out transformed. And, hey, it gave me a chance to do yet another butterfly card.
My first inclination was to do the background in pink, but then I remember Snietje (Anita) commenting that green was the color of Hope and then Jennifrann reminded me in her card write-up that Hope is the State motto for Rhode Island. Green is also the color of rejuvenation. So green it is.
I masked a piece of cs and ink blended DOX. Stenciled with the same color and then applied the Nuvo paste through the stencil. The glimmer paste looks really cool in real life. The antennae on this butterfly is from another Memory Box die called Willoughby Butterfly. I do like how a lot of the butterflies look without antenna, but when I do my own cards I really have trouble not adding one. LOL. I typed the quote using Luna font.
This is not a difficult card if you know what you're going to do, but this was another card journey for me. I now have several shades/patterns of green backgrounds stashed away for future projects. Thanks for stopping by. I hope your crafting is taking you on a fun journey today.

So you mean you're back to being a blue/green girl after being pink for a week? Love your monochromatic approach for this card - it does evoke hope with the sparkly florals and the beautiful butterfly! Maya Angelou's quote is so fitting (I have used that quote, too) in this situation...fantastic card, Debbie! Thank you for the hug, dear friend...

I love reading the reasons you created this card in this particular way. It turned out beautiful and I love the background. The butterfly, of course, is beautiful. Wonderful sentiment.

Ooh, I love the look of the texture from the paste, and can imagine the shimmer. I think green was a lovely choice - so enjoying the trees starting to green up here.

Ooh, Debbie, I love your shades of green. Green is the color of healing. I think I read that somewhere. Great job on the texture paste! Maya Angelou said some wonderful statements!

So pretty and sooooo true. Love that sentiment and your techniques look amazing. I think green was exactly the right choice for this.
Now to Maya's quote - those are some deep words and something we all need to understand. I think she was totally brilliant and I love that you put this on your card.
Hugz
