Today, Denise challenged us to think that the grass is browner on the other side of the fence, which made me think of the overgrown weeds in our backyard. However, those weeds attract a lot of bees, different species of birds, butterflies, squirrels, opossums, even the neighborhood cats! And since our own cats have passed away (after being with us for 14 and 16 years), being visited by these creatures is a pleasure (yes, even the opossum, its babies are so cute!). We recently declared our backyard to be a wildlife sanctuary - so that solves the problem of having to deal with the weeds LOL.
This card is almost an exact representation of our backyard, except for the naughty bunny - it wanted to get in there and mess up the sign! The bird is giving it a scolding - but as you can see, it doesn't care!
Thank you, Denise and Sabrina, for a wonderful challenge - to be aware of the countless blessings we have... I'm excited to send this card to one of our teapotters!

I'm all for weeds and wildflowers and the shelter and nourishment they provide to the insects and other wildlife. I think over-tidy gardens and neatly shaven lawns are not necessarily a good thing, ecologically speaking. DH laments the fact that so little of our lawn is actually grass, but I can't say it bothers me. What a sweet little scene, I especially like the layered grass- that must be the quilling die. And I'd love to see an opossum in real life!!

Very sweet garden scene with that mischievous bunny and the other critters! Love the decorated sign hanging on the fence telling everyone about the glorious weeds.

Very sweet scene...I'm not a fan of bunnies...although cute they love to eat my plants...grrr...but I do enjoy watching the other critters. It is fun to see all the animals in one's neighborhood..I've seen deer, foxes, coyotes, and turkeys in my back and front yards...and I live in a big city!

I love your thought process in turning weeds into a wildlife sanctuary - that story made me smile this morning. You have done a bang up job in creating your scene using a very literal brown fence with the greener grass below - this in turn has attracted a wonderful array of creatures to cheer us onto spring and brighter days ahead.
