Another Wednesday has rolled around and we have a wonderful color combo - brought to us by Susie - to get your mojo going for the next Color Throwdown challenge! My pink is leaning more toward a coral shade but...it's all in the family - lol! Prior to my dad's passing on August 31, I tried to send him cards pretty often...especially since he couldn't have visitors during the Covid pandemic while in a nursing home. I decided to recycle some of the elements onto new cards. Here, I used the florals and the bird.
I smooshed some Blueprint Sketch distress oxide ink onto watercolor paper by applying the ink to a small piece of acetate, spritzing with water then dabbing the acetate randomly over the WC paper. I then splattered the same color over the dried background.
STAMPS: Feathered Friends Mini 1, Blossoming Branches, Wild Fields (sentiment) - all by Ink to Paper.
INK: Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Ripe Avocado, Honey Nut, Enchanted Evening, Orange Zest, True Black (Ink to Paper); Blueprint Sketch distress oxide.
PAPER: Brilliant Blue (retired SU), Ranger watercolor, White by Ink to Paper.
DIES: Border Bling: Skinny Postage, Blossoming Branches (Ink to Paper); Stitched Rectangles STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).

WOW!!! So many elements and techniques going on here, yet you have brought it all together to create a very cohesive work of art. That postage stamp frame is very effective especially in that deep shade of blue which grounds the blue ink mixed-media treatment as well as the floral and bird group of die-cuts. Such beautiful florals and colored very effectively. That bird's body in a golden shade looks fantastic and the brown wings are the perfect pairing. I couldn't do something like this at all, and I admire your work greatly, what a wonderful piece of art that you will give or send as a card. Someone will be very blessed indeed to receive it. Gorgeous! Favorited, I have learned a lot by looking at this work of art and from your description which I so appreciate.
I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of your father this past August. I can only imagine how much your father appreciated receiving those works of heart from you and I am sure that he derived much comfort and your love from each one. What a wonderful and very tangible way you showed to your Dad how much you loved and missed him, something that he could look at and KNOW how much you loved him and how much you wanted to be there with him. I can only imagine how tough it's been for you and your family to have lost him during this pandemic. Please know that I have just prayed for you and that you are in my thoughts.
