Here is a very good example why one should never throw anything out. I used an old booklet, published in the 40's, about the Palmer Method of Handwriting. Why do I have this? I don't know.
I'm sure that my penmanship teachings in early grade school were from the Palmer Method. Remember the poster tacked up above the blackboard with all the letters??? My nightmare! I always received a C in penmanship because I couldn't write at a slant. It was legible, letters were formed alright, but there was that darn slant. I would never inflict my cursive on someone today, even though I'm told my handwriting is nice...I don't like it one bit.
I tore out a sheet from the booklet, mounted it, did a little steampunk stenciling and added a sentiment with some cursive. Done! Thanks, this was fun and I was happy to use this booklet.

Me again. Having just read Kathy's comment above mine, I've learned that I was not taught the Palmer method of handwriting. I've never seen that style r. Frankly, I'm a bit offended by it.

Yikes, this takes me back to my handwriting memories or nightmares I should say. It was 3rd grade, cursive...I was left handed and my teacher insisted my parents ‘break’ me of being left handed. And a grandfather believed left handedness was from...well, just imagine. Needless to say, I developed a very bold and different combination of script and print. Not the neat style of Palmer. Sorry, I veered in the comment ditch! I like you kept the colors in the lane of the aged paper. You’ve a pleasant hand, mf!

VERY CREATIVE, Jean!!!! I'll bet that your handwriting is WONDERFUL & your thinking you don't like your handwriting is ONLY because of your teacher telling you it wasn't right. BUT, WHAT A TREAT to have this little handbook on writing! ALSO, BIG INKY HUGS for your SWEET VISIT FRIEND!!! ;)<3
