I have had the Echo Park "The Story of Fall" patterned paper pad for YEARS! In fact, I checked the copyright date, & it was 2015. While I have used several sheets, I have not used it up yet. So I set a goal to try & finish it up this year. I am currently making Fall cards for Send a Smile 4 Kids, so this hopefully will help in my endeavor.
This particular patterned paper was kind of awkward to use. It is double-sided, but the other side is a bunch of tiny decorative labels, which didn't work for me at all. The full pattern on this side has the flowers in one corner, & then banners in the diagonally opposite corner. I took a closer look at it, and figured out that I could cut the flower portion off to make a full A2 panel, & hopefully use the banner portion for another card.
I die cut the hugs from another pattern in the pad, & 4 more times from a scrap of orange cardstock. It took me a long time to plan the design, playing with whether to orient the panel vertically or horizontally, and where to place the greeting. I finally decided to put the flowers in the upper left corner, and snug the greeting in among them.
The bottom of the card seemed awfully empty, though, so I found a flower die that kind of looks like the flowers in the paper. I die cut that from an orangey-yellow cardstock, and went over the embossed details with an orange colored pencil. I had the 2 leaves in my UFO container, and so glued them & the flower in the lower right corner to balance the design.
I glued one of my cardstock hugs in place, and used that to help me position the letter stamps for "sending." I heat embossed that word, then glued the rest of the hugs die cuts on top of the first, ending with the patterned paper one, to create a thicker greeting. Finally, I adhered the panel to a white card base. For such a simple-looking card, it took me well over an hour to make all the design decisions!
