A friend of ours commissioned me to create a birthday card for her to send. She said her friend has a smaller dog, so I immediately thought of this dog image from the "Birthday Party" set.
I cut a piece of watercolor paper to size, and stamped the image in Fog ink. I used my MISTI, fully expecting to have to double-stamp it, but amazingly, it came out fine on the first go! I used my Inktense pencils to color the elements, picking up the color from each pencil with a damp paintbrush to apply it to my paper. After the color dried, I used a white gel pen to go over the stamped dots on the bone, & went over the dog's eye, nose, & mouth with a black Prismacolor pencil.
For the dog bed, I stamped the image onto one of the patterned papers from "Happy Birthday" with Fog ink. I fussy cut the bed out, cutting just inside the stamped line. I shaded around the perimeter with a couple of grey Prismacolor pencils, just to add the look of dimension. I used the same grey pencils to add shading under the elements in the scene. Finally, I glued the bed in place on my image panel.
Even though the sketch doesn't call for one, I decided to adhere the image panel to a 1/16" dark grey mat. I just felt that, with the busyness of the background paper especially, it just needed something to set it off.
I die cut a circle from a scrap of yellow cardstock, & the next size die up from a scrap of purple. I matted the yellow with the purple, and stamped my greeting with Morning Mist ink. I cut off the bottom of my circle element, just under the greeting.
I adhered the background panel to my white card base, & glued down the banners on the right side. I adhered my image panel on top, and tucked the greeting arch under its top edge. And that finished this card!

Oh, Andrea, I LOVE this card! Your coloring is amazing...truly! What great DP and a wonderful sketch! You are doing what Julie Gearinger has been doing -- going back in time and using older SCS sketches! Great job! Hugs and love!
