The scan doesn't give this card justice, it's so pretty in real life. I've finally made one that I truly find beautiful. As my daddy would say on one of our fishing trips, "it's a keeper". This card is for today's color challenge. After I stamped the birds with StazOn, I used a liquid mask and painted over them, once that was dry I did the background. Then I peeled the liquid mask off and painted the birds. I took the Close to Cocoa SU Marker and colored over the Old Olive Ink on the Bamboo stamp on the sides of the bamboo stalks for just a subtle hint of brown in the bamboo. This challenge was so much fun.

Wow! Gasp!! This is such a keeper I don't know how you could ever give it away! I love those birds and what you did with the Bamboo. I've never heard of liquid mask, but I think I'll try to find some. You put a lot of creative effort into this and it was well worth it!

Liquid mask is used by watercolorists to mask areas of the watercolor paper that they don't want their background wash to affect. You sketch (or in the case of a stamper, you stamp) your image, then paint with Liquid Mask and wait for it to dry. Once dry you do your background; when the background is dry, rub off the liquid mask with a rubber eraser and then watercolor your image. It's much easier than cutting a mask from paper on intricate designs like these birds. Liquid Mask can be found at Michael's in the area where the paintbrushes and supplies are kept.
