I will be back with a star book but I had hoped that I could include yesterday's WT (image of a typewriter) with one of today's challenges and the light bulb went on.
Leroy Anderson, born in 1908, was an American composer of short, light concert pieces, many of which were introduced by the Boston Pops under Arthur Fiedler. One of them is called The Typewriter, so I printed out a picture of the cover of one of the recordings of this piece and others. The Typewriter is a lot of fun, with an actual typewriter being used as a percussion instrument. There are many videos on YouTube. For his contribution to the recording industry, he was awarded a 'star' on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He is one of my favorite composers; I especially love 'Sleigh Ride.'
For my mixed media, I used the Dina Wakely gloss sprays on deli paper, a star stencil with modeling paste and gold glitter, and the computer generated pieces. The glitter is so fine, it sticks to everything, so the stars aren't very clear. I brushed it off as best I could.
As an aside to yesterday's WT, Sabrina mentioned a model of the first 'typographer' being built for the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. If you'd like to read a really good book about that fair, check out Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. He is a journalist who writes about historic events that usually have another event happening at the same time.

Awesome story about Leroy Anderson. I think I may have heard the piece without knowing what it was at some point. I like how you used the inspiration on your code. And thanks for letting me know what Devil in the White City is about -- it's one of those books I see sometimes as I'm looking over the used books at the thrift store (there are some books you come across every single time, like Davinci Code). Now I know, I might pick it up.

I'm sure I have The Typewriter on one of my brass band collections. It is a fun piece, isn't it. Your spray background is beautiful even without the gold stars, but they look lovely on it. And your sentiment is great. I bought the last book you recommended to me, I should read that (and a few more of the backlog on my Kindle) before I follow any more literary trails.

One of the best songs the typewriter song. Such creativity. Love how your card looks. Thanks for playing along. I'll be looking for your star album sometime.
