My hubby turns 80 this December, so the 1940's reference is to him and not the image. I am sure when he sees it he will say, "Love this card, but that truck is not a 40's you know" because he has an acute eye for detail. And, he loves Chevys and I'm pretty sure this is a Ford. Oh well, I will play the "What do I know, I'm just a girl" card.
I saw this interesting video on YouTube where the artist made six background color combinations with Speckled Egg. I really like the Patina, but decided to stick with just the two DOs I used to keep it lighter. Here's the link to her video if you are interested:
I made a bunch of backgrounds with this combo (last Tuesday Teapot also) and thought it would make a fun masculine card.
I heat embossed the image with black powder, then ink smooshed the two colors. Stamped the map image with Speckled Egg (hard to see in this photo) and the edge with the Crackle stamp in Vintage Photo. In retrospect, it would have been easier to smoosh, stamp and then heat emboss. I trimmed the card down and mounted it on craft foam. I was going to use black cardstock for the base, but I had all these backgrounds I had previously made. So I mounted to one of those instead. I like the affect. The sentiment is computer generated using Sabrina's (Cook22) brilliant idea to do it in Excel to get the black background. The font is Avenir.
I'm sure we all have our own "classic" moments. Hope you have time to remember and enjoy a few of them today. TFL

The colours in the background really stand out nicely. Can’t wait for that speckled egg distress ink to arrive here - they must be on the slow boat as everything else is at the moment. Just the perfect masculine birthday card.

I love your classic card Debbie and no doubt your DH will too. I love your write-up especially the bit about playing the girly card. ....I am so on that page! Like Helen said, the new inks are on a very slow boat, but in the mean time we get to see your terrific creations.

This is a fabulous masculine! Such an interesting classic car stamp and fantastic background! My husband is a Chevy enthusiast also. He has been waiting for a new Corvette since October. With the strike and then Covid shutdown it will probably be another 2 or 3 moinths. Men and their toys!
